Fremantle City and Bayswater City will represent Football West in the Hahn Australia Cup Round of 32 after two fantastic semi-finals tonight.
Freo beat Olympic Kingsway Sports Club 3-1 at Armadale’s Alfred Skeet Reserve, while Bayswater came from two goals down at half-time to overcome Perth RedStar 3-2.
The draw takes place next Monday at 5.30pm WST.
Olympic were bidding to reach the national stage for a third successive season, but found themselves behind inside 20 minutes as Charlie Chechlacz caught out keeper Adrian Sinagra from around 40 metres.
Rob Harker equalised for Olympic before the break, but it was Freo who took their chances after the interval with goals from Nic Ambrogio and Bill Orr to qualify for the national rounds for the first time.
At Frank Drago Reserve, things looked bleak for Baysie as visitors RedStar raced into a two-goal lead thanks to Liam Murray’s curler and a goal by Jacob Evans.
But after Cam Teece squeezed a low shot past Liam Reddy, Baysie scented blood and a quickfire brace by Coby Sutton ensured Bayswater had turned the game on its head with three goals in 11 minutes.
Baysie last made the Round of 32 in 2019.
Tonight’s results also mean Fremantle and Bayswater will meet in the State Cup final at the Sam Kerr Football Centre in August.
