A massive day of finals action at the Sam Kerr Football Centre on Saturday with five New Balance NPL WA Top Four Cup games.
The opening game sees league champions Olympic face State Cup winners Stirling. The two teams met last week, with Olympic winning on penalties to advance to the final. Stirling made the most of their second chance with a 3-1 defeat of Perth Glory on Wednesday.
League winners RedStar came from behind to defeat the Academy 2-1, which took them into the final. The Academy set up a rematch thanks to a 1-0 victory against Perth Azzurri on Tuesday.
League champions Glory qualified for the final with a stoppage-time winner against Olympic Kingsway. RedStar beat Fremantle City 1-0, then backed up with a 4-2 victory at Olympic on Wednesday.
Victory for Balcatta will see them end 2026 with three of the four trophies on offer after already claiming the Night Series and State Cup. Pete Rakic’s side were particularly impressive in their 3-0 defeat of Azzurri in the State Cup final a fortnight ago, and they followed it up with another win over the league champions in last Saturday’s Top Four Cup semi-final.
Fremantle overturned a half-time deficit to see off Perth RedStar last Saturday to secure a preliminary final against Azzurri in midweek. That could not have gone better for Sam Geddes and her team, with Freo storming to a 5-0 win.
Top Four Cup holders Bayswater were again the benchmark in the NPL, defending the league title they won in 2025. They just missed out on completing a double when losing a thriller to Fremantle City in the State Cup final, then found themselves 3-0 down after 18 minutes against Olympic Kingsway in their Top Four Cup semi-final. But Matt Sparrow’s team produced a stirring comeback at Frank Drago Reserve and booked their place in the final with a 5-3 triumph.
Opponents Azzurri have come through two tough away fixtures to reach the Sam Kerr Football Centre. Last week they were level with Perth RedStar heading into stoppage time when two late goals gave them a 3-1 victory. Then Kenny Lowe’s men followed it up with a convincing 2-0 win at Olympic in midweek.
