Almost 160 players from across WA were at the Sam Kerr Football Centre in Queens Park last week for the first State Regional Carnival.
The three-day event brought together participants from Football West’s Regional Academies based in the South West, Goldfields, Great Southern, Mid West/Gascoyne, Pilbara and Kimberley regions.
Football West General Manager – Football David Lewis said: “The State Regional Carnival highlighted both the quality of regional football and the commitment of the football community across the state. The standard of football throughout the weekend was outstanding, but what impressed us most was the attitude shown by every player.
“They embraced every opportunity, represented their regions with pride and demonstrated exactly why regional football continues to play such an important role in the future of our game.
“The State Regional Carnival forms an important part of Football West’s player development pathway, supporting talent identification while giving regional players meaningful opportunities to develop in a competitive environment.
“Football West extends its sincere thanks to every player, coach, volunteer, staff member and family member who contributed to the success of the carnival.
“Whether you travelled from Broome, Albany, Kalgoorlie or anywhere in between, your support helped make this event something truly special. We are incredibly grateful for the commitment shown by everyone involved.”
