Football West is pleased to announce details of trials for the Hyundai Football West Academy Girls Program for 2027.
IMPORTANT: For players born 2011 and 2012, the trials will serve as identification for the New Balance NPLWA Women’s U21s and first team squads PLUS the WA State Girls U15 and U16s State Team extended squads for the Emerging Matildas Championship.
HYUNDAI FOOTBALL WEST ACADEMY
Football West is inviting talented young girls aged 12-15 to trial for the Hyundai Football West Academy – a development-focused program aligned with Football Australia’s player pathway and designed to prepare players for progression to higher levels of the game.
The Academy aims to identify and support players with the potential to progress through State Teams and national programs.
The Academy aims to enhance technical skill, tactical understanding and high-performance behaviours in a structured and supportive environment.
Program overview
- Four playing squads covering ages U13 to U18
- Access to a quality training methodology under our experienced, accredited coaching staff
- 40 weeks per year, 3 x per week average contact days
- Tailored games program suitable to individual age group

Players born in 2011 and 2012 are eligible to participate in the Emerging Matildas Championships (EMC). This tournament serves as a talent identification opportunity for Football Australia coaching staff to select players for Junior Matildas camps, tournaments and U17 Women’s World Cup qualification. Preparations commence from November 2026 where Hyundai FWA players and selected State team extended squad members will train together twice per week.
Membership players (train-on program)
- Open to players U13 to U14
- Players train and develop together with Hyundai Football West Academy players under our accredited coaches
- One training per week in addition to your club commitments
- Pathway into Emerging Matildas Championship selection when age eligible
Players trialling for the Hyundai Football West Academy program will be considered for their birth year age group. Please note players born outside these dates will not be allowed to trial.
Trial requirements
- Players must attend the first two trials – the third & fourth trials are invitation-only for players who have been successful after the first two trials
- Players are asked to show up 15 minutes before each session
- Shin pads must be worn without exception
